BOOKING Jotun Revolution
Danish “Fae Folk” band. Gathering songs and tales hidden in nature and mystical landscapes of Denmark. Unveiling the folkloric voices of the mythological and magical creatures who inhabit them.
Jotun Revolution is a Danish fae folk band which came alive on the misty moors and in the dark, dense forests of Jutland. We gather songs and tales hidden in nature, spoken without words by the mystical creatures and spirits who inhabit the beautiful landscapes of Denmark. Unveiling the folkloric voices which are still very much alive today.
The voices who unveil themselves when walking deep into the forest and spending several hours among the trees. The voices talking softly and playfully on the waves washing up on a beach, or those who howl through the hilly landscape of Djurs. All we have to do is listen, and the songs and stories appear.
THE MUSIC
Step into a musical soundscape where Nordic/Celtic folk, classical tonalities and the drama of musical theatre meets Danish/Scandinavian folklore in songs which tell stories of nature and mystical beings, who themselves do not have a voice. But nature speaks. Our job is to listen.
The track “The Spirit of Gallows Hill” tells the tale of The Gallow Mounds in Jutland, where the wights of the land are polluted by the misdeeds of mankind. “Allure of Will O’ the Wisp” is a web of sounds that hypnotizes and lures the unknowing person into the cold embrace of creatures of the bog, whilst “Waltz of the Fae Folk” takes you into the heart of the dance of the Elven People.
THE BAND
The core of the band consists of HC Molbech (flute, gemshorn, percussion and vocals), Christine Kammerer (vocals and lyre), Ursula Pedersen Klindt (cello and big fiddle), Lasse Olufson (guitar, lute, hurdy gurdy) and Benjamin Barfod (percussion, hangs). HC Molbech and Christine also play together in the Danish Viking folk band Gjaldulei.
HC Molbech, the sarcastic Satyr, the flamboyant flute player, himself born of the soil and salty sea of Western Jutland, has a long career on the Medieval music scene as well. With bands such as Almune, Musicantica and Lurpakket, he is a well known name on the Danish folk music scene.
Christine Kammerer, the Siren of Northern Sealand, has been the lead howler of ancient words and tunes, and bewitcher of strings in Gjaldulei for the past 3 years. Will often be seen climbing mountains, sitting alone in a forest, or standing in a creek, consulting the spirits of nature and a flask of whisky.
When she is not gallivanting around markets and other mystical music scenes, is often found composing on such modern instruments as piano and guitar. In 2020 Kammerer released the EP “Growing Pains” and in 2019 Gjaldulei released their EP “Gjaldulei”.
Kammerer and Molbech have toured internationally with their music, playing festivals, markets and venues, and have been played on both national and international radio.
Eversong: The first single
Deep in the damp darkness of the forests of Western Jutland, the trees speak. Elder trees waiting to share secrets about the healing powers of their flowers and fruits. The mighty oak tells tales of lives unfolding, having witnessed the rise and fall of families, villages, and rulers for hundreds of years.
Amidst them stands a small beech tree. A youngster still, but wise. For in her roots, remembrance dwells. She possesses a wisdom which transcends time. And if you listen closely, with an open heart, she will share her stories. In the early autumn, as the leaves were drawing their last breath on the tree’s tired branches, she told me a story. And there, sat beneath her elegant crown, we heard the “Eversong”.

Stadig ung, men vis.

MUSIKKEN
